“Harnessing Biomass for a Sustainable Circular Economy: Innovations in Energy Transition”
About Us

The Centre of Excellence for Biomass Utilization (COEBU) at Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), in collaboration with Global Trends in Engineering, Science & Technology (GTEST) 2025, is pleased to announce the 5th International Conference on Biomass Utilization and Sustainable Energy 2025 (ICoBiomasSE 2025), scheduled for 10-11th September 2025. The conference theme is “Harnessing Biomass for a Sustainable Circular Economy: Innovations in Energy Transition.” The physical conference will be held at PICC Putrajaya, following strict standard operating procedures to ensure safety. For participants unable to attend in person, an online participation option will be available soon.

The conference aims to provide a platform for professionals, researchers, academicians, and industries to discuss and explore cutting-edge applications, challenges, and issues in biomass utilization and sustainable energy. This year's theme reflects the ongoing revolution and rapid developments in biomass innovation towards achieving sustainable development. Three distinguished keynote speakers will be invited to present their insights on the current trends in these critical and emerging topics.

Established in 2015 under the School of Bioprocess Engineering at UniMAP, COEBU focuses on research in biomass utilization, taking advantage of Perlis' agricultural resources, including paddy, sugarcane, mango farms, and teakwood. This initiative aligns with the 11th Malaysia Plan (2016-2020), Strategy 4, which aims to foster green growth for sustainability and resilience. The Centre of Excellence is designed to enhance research in the integration of chemical engineering, agriculture, bioprocessing, and biosystems, ultimately turning waste into wealth.
